How to Build a QR Code Campaign That Works
Plan QR destinations, add campaign tags, prepare QR codes for print, and test scans before launching your next campaign.
A QR code connects a physical moment to a digital destination. The useful part is not the pattern itself: it is what someone finds after scanning. Start with a clear reason to scan and a mobile-friendly page.
Choose one clear next step
A product package might link to setup instructions. A poster might lead to event registration. A receipt might link to feedback. Keep the destination aligned with the promise printed beside the code. Avoid a generic homepage when a focused page would answer the visitor’s need.
Add tracking before generating
Use a source such as store-poster, medium qr, and campaign autumn-event. Consistent tags help the destination’s analytics identify campaign traffic. They do not count every scan independently: only visits recorded by your analytics appear in reports.
Static versus dynamic QR codes
A static QR code contains the final URL. A dynamic code usually points to a managed redirect that can send visitors to a different destination later. Qiklinks currently generates static QR codes. If the destination changes after printing, the code will still point to the original URL.
Design for scanning
- Keep dark modules on a light background.
- Preserve the white quiet zone around the code.
- Use the SVG download so edges remain sharp.
- Leave room around the code in the final layout.
- Use a clear call to action, such as “Scan for setup instructions.”
- Avoid reflective materials and heavily curved placements where possible.
Test the physical proof
Scan the finished print at its actual size, distance, and lighting. Test more than one phone. A scan that works from a large screen image can fail when the code is printed too small or placed on a reflective surface. There is no single minimum size that works for every camera and viewing distance.
Measure useful outcomes
Look beyond tagged visits. Did visitors finish registration, read the instructions, or make a purchase? Use your destination’s analytics and conversion events to evaluate the campaign. Qiklinks does not currently provide hosted scan reports.
